As a mom who has Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and ADHD, I’ve heard “you don’t look sick”, many, MANY times.
When my son was undiagnosed with PANDAS, struggling with stomach aches and strep constantly, while having major behavior problems, pediatricians and psychiatrists wanted to label him ODD (oppositional defiance disorder), drug him up, and cross their fingers his behaviors and attitudes improve.
Just because a human doesn’t look sick (however you define that word), doesn’t mean they aren’t sick. Dealing with an illness, or multiple, daily, it is easy to doubt yourself because others doubt you. This can be especially true when a child’s parent doesn’t believe something is going on.
All we need is sometimes is someone who believes, supports, sees, and hears us. @koffeewithjandk222 we believe, support, see, and hear you.
